Naked Smoky Available the 6th of August

Over the years the Naked Palettes have become a staple in nearly every Irish girls makeup bag. With the release of Naked Smoky next Thursday the 6th of August, the Naked Palette Hype is in no sight of ending soon.

I was fortunate enough to be invited along to the preview of Naked Smoky yesterday,  where the lovely Roisin gave us all the details on the launch and how well it is doing worldwide. We also got to feel, swatch, play to our hearts content with the new palette.

I have already decided it is my favourite palette from all the Naked range, why you ask?
  1. The packaging is by far the best, its sturdy, the only thing that rattles is the brush it comes with, it has a magnetic closure that stops any mishaps. Also the feel of it its smooth and sleek (its not velvet!!)
  2. You get a good selection of mattes, shimmers and satins, out of the 12 shades 9 are brand new and 3 are exclusive to the palette.
  3. The palette can easily bring you from day to night. Using just the golds and browns during the day and then amping it up on the night by adding some dagger or smolder.
  4. I love the two ended brush, the pointed end is a great pencil brush for getting under the lower lashes or highlighting the inner corners of the eye. The blending brush is also great and with the blendability of these shadows the application is just effortless.

 The Launch

With waiting lists reaching over 9000 yesterday, getting your hands on this palette is going to be tough. Urban Decay is only available in Ireland in Debenhams and House of Fraser Dundrum. So if you want to get on the list ring or visit your local store.

Debenhams will be opening their doors at 8am( an hour early) on 6th of August to accommodate the Launch, it will also be available online on debenhams.ie  but how many will be available online we do not know, so best to head to the store.

This palette has already sold out twice in the USA so believe me when I say it will sell out in Ireland.

Day 2 of #SBBC: Favourite Eyeshadow Palette

So I had decided to write about my ten pan Inglot palette mainly because I use it everyday for my eyebrows and the black for smokey eyes but I then realised I would only use another one or two of the remaining eight maybe once a week. So I start looking through my other palettes and then decided to write about my Urban Decay Naked Basic palette that I carry with me all the time because it holds the necessities, but then it hit me my 120 palette is hands down my favourite.

It's part of my everyday makeup routine that I have become so custom with it I almost forget I even use it. It's been mentioned many times here on the blog and where I got it so I will not go into to much details, but for the newbies of #SBBC it was a bargain for less then €7 on eBay about 2 years ago now.

As you can see I have hit pan on quite a few and completely used up every last dust of colour in a few. I have taken it on shoots and used it on many area of the face not just the body. It's been through the mill and has been dropped countless times, it's how I lost the electric blue colour that has hit pan, but the outside casing is still in one piece and not even a scratch on it.

Some of the colours still remain untouched to this day as I have yet to think of a new eye look to use them in, as I can be a one trick pony when I find a new eye look I like ( at the moment I am loving the red/cranberry at top right on the left side).

It's hard to imagine ever getting to the end of this palette and I will probably repurchase it before it happens just so I can have some of my favourite colours back. If your looking for a all rounder palette or you are just starting out using makeup and want to experiment then I certainly recommend the 120 palette.

What's your favourite eyeshadow palette?

Urban Decay Naked Basic Palette - First Impressions

This might surprise some of you but this is actually the first piece of urban decay makeup that I have ever owned. I won this palette on Lisa's wonderful blog www.misslisa.co.uk. At first impression I was shocked at how small it is, the palette is even smaller then my phone and I easily lose my phone in my bag so imagine this.
It is a great little everyday palette, with five mattes and one shimmer. It can easily transform into a night time palette with the help of Crave and make a classic smokey eye.

I tried swatching them on my arm but the pay off from Foxy and W.O.S was not great, but I will not know for fully till I do a look with them how pigmented they are. Crave felt very chalky and I expect a good bit of fallout from it.

Over all I am looking forward to using the palette and trying out some looks which I will of  course feature on the blog.

 Venus (Shimmer)

Foxy (Matte)
 W.O.S (Matte)

Naked 2 (Matte)

Faint (Matte)

 Crave (Matte)
