OOTN: Crosses and Studs

I have not done an outfit of the day/night in so long, mostly because of I still have no tripod and there's no one ever around to take pictures of me when I first get ready. So before I got dressed on Saturday for work I decided to snap my outfit.

The shorts I picked up in Penneys for only €13 on Saturday and the heel trainers for €9 just after Christmas. They are the comfiest runners ever. The tights were only €3.50, they laddered before I even made it to work:(

The crop top was only €5 in that 40 degrees shop on Henry street.

The earrings and black bangles are from river island and the tiger print ones are from new look.

Single on valentines? End of the world right!

Seeing couples declare their undying love for each other make you feel sad and lonely?

Shop windows covered in love hearts and teddy bears remind you of what ifs and past loves?

My social networking sites this week have been inundated with people updating statuses with;

" Need to find a date for Valentines." And hash tagging #foreveralone. As a "permanent singleton" who has only ever spent one valentines with someone in all my years of dating, I am sick of people moaning! I was hoping to avoid the day by sleeping and working but my roster did not turn out that way. At first I was noooo, instantly must find a date/call an ex/ buy alot of munches, hire a mother load of DVDs and spend the day under my duvet avoiding the love fest outside. At the same time because we're all sheep hash tagging #foreveralone. Then it struck me that none of it even mattered.

My friend text me with news that she had organised a date for valentines so she would not be another statistic of a trending article on twitter and for when people asked what she got up to she would not seem lonely and she smile and say she had a date. This was a new boy that she had blindly been set up with so when agreeing to the date she barely knew anything about him (apart from he was a hot piece of arm candy). Few days on and countless texts later she has found out this boy is a clinger, already has cute pet names for her and in his words wants to make her 'his girl'. So with the date tonight, she is dreading it and actually wishes she was hiding under her duvet with munchies and DVDs.

The whole situation made me realise how happy I am with life right now and been single is part of it! I could not be bothered with the fact I am alone on valentines. Pretty glad I am not stressing over what size cologne to get the boy and what shade of red lipstick to wear to our dinner date. The one valentines I did have , due to my workaholicsness I totally forgot about it. And while my boyfriend at the time lavished me with jewellery cards and chocolates, I was like "Eh I will cook you dinner later."

I am not saying been in a relationship is a bad thing or that I would not be as happy if I was in one, but at this moment I am not. I am just going to let things run their course and when I am supposed to be in one I will be.

An I happy for all them loved up couples out there? Of course. Two of my work friends recently got together and I am thrilled for them even if I was the go between man/messaging service while they plucked up the courage to finally bite the bullet. I am actually looking forward to hear their loved up valentines story on Friday of what they got up to and what they got each other.

Single on Valentines? So what! End of the world did not occur on December 22nd and will not occur on February 14th just because your alone! Embrace it and if you can not then treat it as any other Thursday, it's just another day anyway. Do not want to sit in alone, then make plans with friends, go see your little old nanny/grandad, go gym, go for a walk, do whatever. But remember you do not become happy just because your in a relationship, you need to be happy within yourself first. Love will come when it's supposed to, it might mean a few more single valentines but hey you got through this one you can get through them all.

And if you are in a relationship have a great day and I hope your spoilt with love and affection. And remember Valentines maybe all materialistic these days but the greatest gift you can give someone is just showing you care!

Quick Review : Essence Nail Polish Remover

Not something I usually buy on a regular basis, due to work my nail varnish just chips off till its gone and then I just repaint them. A few weeks ago I painted them a deep blue color and for the life of me I could not get it off so I knew it was time to invest in a new remover.

Heading to the tills in Penney's this little bottle caught my eye and for under €3 I snapped it up. I was not expecting much , as long as it did the job I was happy.

This little blue liquid surprised me! When you think nail varnish remover you think open all windows because its gonna stink the place out. This little bottle still does have that overpowering smell but its smell of coconut and papaya over powers that more!

Now if your not a fan of sweet things then stick to the regular nail polish remover but I have made this little guy a regular addition too my product collection and now take my nail polish off with this instead of just letting it chip.

Metamorphosis Lashes

A few weeks ago I saw Marijanna Martin Makeup on Facebook offer free samples* to other MUAs of her new range of lashes.  I quickly jumped at the chance, as you all know I am a big fan of lashes the bigger the better and I am constantly on the look out for good affordable lashes.

Notice something? All styles are named after iconic Hollywood screen sirens. They are perfect for creating vintage looks as well as amping up your Saturday night makeup. 

Here I am wearing Vivienne-Leigh lashes which are my upmost favorite of all three. For such a full lash you would expect for them to weigh down your eyes. but Metamorphosis lashes are so light and have thin bands. That not only are they easy to apply but they blend in naturally with your own lashes and there is none of that lazy eye effect you can get with badly made lashes. Also no need to track with eyeliner.

In this picture I am wearing Marilyn, as you can see I also have some lashes on the bottom. These are the ends of the Marilyn lashes that instead of throwing away I kept after cutting the lash to shape. Waste not want not!

Unfortunately I had a problem with my camera and my pictures of Audrey lashes were lost and then I misplaced one of the lashes. But what I can say about wearing them is they were light weight , they stayed on all night, they were not my favorite lash but that was nothing to do with the making of them just personal preference. 

I can most defiantly say I will be ordering all 3 sets of lashes again for my kit, and myself. If good care is taken of these lashes they can last up to ten times. Ive worn Vivienne-Leigh 5 times now and their still going strong. (Good care does not mean yanking them off in that sexy move you do in front of your boy before bedtime).

Ok honestly I have kind of avoided these things like the plague since I started blogging..... pure laziness been the excuse maybe!? I got my Internet back today(finally!) and saw I had not one but two nominations and said to myself "Meg its a sign get your arse in gear and do one!" So here it goes

I can not swim, I have tried to learn but I am incapable!

I am 4ft 6", I used to be 4ft 8.5" but I lost the inches somewhere!

I do not like animals. I wish there was an unlike button for FB animal photos!

I consider myself not to have a home yet, I have my rent's house and the place where I live but I have yet to find my home in this world yet! I am a gypsy at heart!

I am addicted to coffee and wish there was a Delta cafe in Dublin that did proper espressos!( Anyone know of one?)

Who inspires you the most?

Not who but things around me, I find inspiration in books, pictures, even rubbish or puddles. But if I was to say one person would be my best friend Amy, her determination to succeed and better herself is soo inspiring!

Hide under my duvet and watch films.

I have a huge fear of public transport, I avoid buses, trains and coaches at all costs, will even walk in the rain. The luas is just okish to go on but I always stand by the door in case I need to hop off quick.
