FOODDAY- Cream-less Carbonara

The other week I posted on my blogs facebook page that I was thinking of posting recipes on the blog with a good response I decided to go ahead with it. So now Friday is Foodday and will be hosting a new recipe each week.

Each recipe will include all nutritional information, I am using My Fitness Pal App to calculate it, most of my ingredients are from Aldi or Tesco.

The recipe can be altered to your own taste, more or less vegetables can be added, I like to use smoked bacon but pancetta or ham or turkey bacon can be used. For more protein Chicken can also added. Depending on how much sauce you want more eggs can be used I just cut mine down due to the low calorie intake I am on.

2014 Beauty Goals

Picture from link
The other day I posted my goals for 2014, I decided to write a quick list of my beauty resolutions, I am obsessed with beauty and clothes and makeup as is every #bblogger and some times you need to set yourself a few guidelines.

Picture from Link

  1. Mascaras, I can only open one every three months, even if I buy or receive ones within the same three months I must not open it till the one I am using dries up or the three months is up. The only exception to this rule is when a mascara is so awful and gives you eyelashes to give Spidermans webs a run for his money you may dispose of it in the bin and open a new one.

  2.  What looks good on other people/bloggers, may not look good on you, try things on and stop shopping with your eyes. Remember you are a midget with really short legs and mini skirts are maxi skirts on you.
  3. Find a moisturiser that works for you and stop going back to your "old reliable" it does not work for you and is no longer reliable.
  4. Learn to use liquid eyeliner, gel liner is not the be all and end all.
  5. Review your brushes you have over 200 of them let people how good or bad they are.
    Picture from Link
  6. Bigger brows are better, no matter what crazy thoughts come into your head! Remember how long it took to grow them back!
  7. Bring a makeup bag everywhere, you never know where you end up or what might happen. If you forget your foundation again, a little improvisation with concealer, powder and moisturiser works wonders.
  8. Dare say you may forget it all always carry a spare eyebrow pencil because you can go anywhere with no makeup but not with no eyebrows.
  9. Find a good shampoo and conditioner buy a stockpile of them because remember what happened to Avon Argan Oil Shampoo, actually in general remember what happened to all of Avon!
  10. You must use who a whole eye shadow this year and not the one you use on your brows and not any black eye shadows either.

Hope you like my beauty goals of 2014!

2014 Goals

Get a 2014 Diary

I like to be a organised person, planning ahead helps me not get too lost in my own daydreams and I get more accomplished out of my days. In 2012 I had a diary and it came everywhere with me I would jot down appointments, ideas, blog post even how much money I had for the week. When it came to 2013 I never bought one and I regretted it. I forgot plans, the blog lacked in posts, I was late for things (except work) and I felt I was missing my left arm. I know we all have diaries on our phones but for some reason for me nothing compares to the feeling of writing on paper.

Get fitter, Eat cleaner, Stay motivated

Two years ago, I lost a significant amount of weight, gradually I have let some of that weight creep back on and I have decided now it is the time to tackle it head on. I am not trying to get a body for summer I am trying to change parts of my lifestyle that will benefit me for life, and the body that results from these changes is the bonus of living healthier. Last year I found out some health issues I never knew I even had and even though I am still waiting on results and consultations, I know that having a cleaner lifestyle will only benefit these issues. My boy is also joining me on this change and is really helping me stay motivated. I downloaded My Fitness Pal App which is really helping me control portion size and see what nutrition I am getting from food and also what I am lacking in. It has a great database of food on it and you can also scan bar codes. It also links up to my Runtastic App which tracks my exercise.

Blog More
I love blogging I really do but some times I lack in my motivation to blog. In 2012 I wrote 102 posts but in 2013 I only wrote 50, this year I am going to try aim for 150. I am trying to be realistic to myself, I do not want to say Ill write 300 and then let myself down at the end of it, I work full time and unfortunately its no where near a computer so better to be realistic with myself. I am going to introduce outfit of the day posts back into the blog and also more food recipes. I also will be getting a redesign done sometime in the near future.

 Educate Myself More

For the last few years my plans have been work and travel and earn some "dolla bills". For some while now I have been feeling I have been getting older and I kind of do not have anything to show for it. Yes I have diplomas in the Hospitality and am a qualified in Makeup Artistry but I do not have a career. I really do not want to keep getting older and all my social networking sites to say
" Megan-Rose Core
Head bartender/Makeup Artist"
Even though I love working in the bar Industry its not a lifelong job for me. So come September 2014 I will be back in college and getting my full Qualification in Beauty Therapy. Yes it means putting my travelling plans on hold for two years but I feel I will always travel no matter my age but I do not think I would go back to college once I am older so now is the right time.

So these are my goals for 2014, I would love to hear yours.

My Precious Polish Festive Nails

In 2013 fellow Irish blogger Anita from Anita's Beauty Spot started up her own indie nail company Precious Polish. I had been itching to try some and I was lucky enough to win two of her handmade polishes at a recent blogger meet up.

I won a beautiful red polish by the name of Hottie and a vibrant green polish called Spring Garden, which is a perfect color for the spring months ahead

I got my sister Trudie to paint my nails on Christmas day so I could have some festive nails, we went for Hottie on every nail and dots of Spring Garden on the accent nail.

Anita makes some gorgeous base colors and also some fabulous glitter top coats, she also released a Irish Blogger collaboration in late 2013 which some of my favourite bloggers were involved.

Nail Polishes start at €7 and if do not see anything you like, she offers a Custom Order option where you can design your own nail polish.
